ABOUT SOLAR ELECTRIC SYSTEMS

Solar makes sense. More and more businesses are recognizing the economic and environmental advantages of solar technology for their daily operations. It is clean, reliable and cost effective. Cost per kilowatt has dropped significantly and new tax incentives and rebates can reduce the overall cost by up to 50%.

Advancements in technology and manufacturing have not only made photovoltaic modules more efficient but have made solar systems more affordable. Once installed, the arrays require little or no maintenance and will produce clean energy for more than 30 years. Arrays can be ground mounted or roof mounted. The types of solar modules available range from a variety of panel sizes and shapes to film, shingles and tiles, making customizing more precise for each individual project. And, because they are modular, extra panels can be easily added should energy needs increase. Solar thermal systems are a solution that works especially well for commercial, industrial, and municipal applications where hot water is a major component. New thermal technologies are efficient and reliable and provide options that are custom-designed, efficient and esthetically adaptable. Since the system is scalable, it can be easily customized and adapted for a number of large applications such as food processing and winery operations, as well as single household uses.

The Grid-Tied System: Most solar systems in or adjacent to an urban area are grid tied, or connected to your standard electric utility service via your electric meter. Your electric meter tracks your power usage, spinning forwards when you take electricity from the utility and spinning backwards when your system is generating more electricity than you use. On sunny days you not only provide electricity for all your immediate needs but the system "banks" any surplus on the utility meter and feeds it back to the utility service which generates a credit account. At night or during cloudy days, the system automatically draws the electricity you need from your credit account (net metering). In this way, you always have a smooth, uninterrupted flow of power. (Most utility services will not yet purchase extra power). Some systems include tracking arrays to optimize efficiency. An inverter takes the direct current from the solar panels and changes it into alternating current and Web-Based Performance Monitoring provides real-time verification of system performance.

Web-Based Performance Monitoring: Our systems are connected to the most up-to-date Web-Based Performance Monitoring. Your solar pv system connects directly to the Web, making the performance data accessible online anytime. This information allows you to manage usage and optimize efficiency of the system. The monitoring also issues alerts for any faults that may occur in the system. Performance Monitoring Systems are required on all systems over 50kw but are available for all other systems upon request.

Support and Maintenance: Because there are no moving parts in a solar pv system, they are reliable, and last approximately 30 years. For most systems, maintenance consists solely of the occasional rinsing off. As part of our service we will make recommendations about how to do this.
